Oxley Cells Ride 2019

Matty informed me that the boys at work intended a ride into the cells river conservation area.

As none of them had ridden it before, I was asked to lead the ride in.

I arrived late in the evening having finished an afternoon shift prior.

The boys were settled in nicely, with a good fire going.

I went to unpack my topbox and was surprised to see it was not in its usual spot.

Disappointing to the extreme as it contained my sleeping bag and a bottle of vodka.

Both of which I'd hoped would warm me through the evening.

I dropped the rest of my camp gear and headed back up the track.

Luckily I found the top box lying in the middle of the track.

It was in bad shape, having broken the locking mechanism and mounting tongue.

But wonder of wonders, my sleeping bag had cushioned the vodka and it was intact.

I returned to camp and commenced setting up tents and sleeping gear.

Then a quick feed before making the most of the unbroken vodka bottle.
