Parkes - The Dish

I enjoyed the movie of the same name.

To see it in person was most enjoyable.

Truly a marvel of engineering and a huge part of history.

This is the "whispering dish".

It works quite well.

I can say it was very precise.

Now these globes were cool.

Powered by light they spun merrily.

This looks like the control panel of the ship from "Lost in Space".

I liked this mirror as it made me thin.

There's a lot of mass there.

To see it moving was pretty cool.

The Ford 4x4 club were having a meeting somewhere.

I'd not seen so many in one place before.

Be wary of bities.

I had to take a pic of a bike.  Its how I roll.

Peak Hill

Peak Hill is an old gold mining town between Dubbo and Parkes.

You could see there was money here once.

Just look at this place.

The mine is worth a look, and the walk is enjoyable.

Old Paddy would have been a tough bugger.

The colour of the rock strata is epic.

A heap of rusty gold in piles.

Apparently he wont part with any of it.

I assume its called the Crossroads as you have to cross the road to get there.

The remains of an old hammer mill.

Probably Paddys bed.

There's a nice range of colour running through the rock strata.

Old man emu.

Stay off the road ya bugger.
